Advertising Program Overview

Our advertising program is based upon the banner system that is so popular on the World Wide Web. The advertisement consists of a graphic that is linked to the advertiser's Web site (or a page on our server for an additional charge).

The actual banner displayed when a user loads a page is rotated among all the advertisers, so that you receive maximum benefit for your advertising dollar.

Demographics

The demographics of Austin Axis' readership closely represents that of the Internet in general, with one common thread: they are interested in Austin, Texas. Nearly half the readers come from inside Austin, with the rest divided among people who used to live in Austin, are moving to Austin, or are simply coming to visit.

Rate Chart

As an advertiser, you agree to a maximum number of impressions you will receive per month. This allows you to set a budget for your advertising and know that it will not be more than you expect.

You will be charged for the actual number of impressions your advertisement receives per month, rounded down to the closest one thousand. Any impressions received beyond the contracted maximum will be provided gratis.

A selection of banners for a single company may be implemented at the additional cost of 5% per banner beyond the first.

Unless otherwise requested, banners will be spread out evenly with the other banners. If you would like to concentrate your accesses around a particular date (such as a product release or a program launch), we are happy to oblige.

Design of banners and/or portal pages is also available.

Submission Process

The materials listed below are due to AWPI no later than ten days prior to the advertisement start date and must adhere to the technical specifications stated below. Advertising start dates occur on the first day of every month.

1. Mail the signed contract and insertion order to:

2. Email the GIF-format banner advertisement to info@awpi.com as an attachment. Please do not compress the file.
3. In the same email, send the desired URL to which the banner advertisement should be linked. It should be a complete URL.
4. If desired, the GIF-formated banner may be mailed on a floppy disk (Mac or PC format) with the signed contract and insertion order. Please do not forget to include the URL.

Submissions received after the deadline will be held until the following advertisement period. Exceptions can be made under certain circumstances, but a late fee may be applied.

Terms of Payment

Advertisers will be invoiced on the first day of the month following the contract period. Payment is due net 15 days from the date of invoice receipt.

Insertion orders must accompany the advertising contract.

A signed contract must be delivered 10 days before publication date. Reservations will not be held without a signed contract.

All international advertising must be paid prior to the advertisement running.

If an advertiser's invoice remains unpaid for 45 or more days, that advertiser's banner(s) will be removed from Austin Axis until all outstanding invoices are paid. Any unpaid invoices over 90 days will be submitted for collection.

Definitions

Banner

A GIF that is used for advertising.

Clicks

The total number of times readers click their mouse on your banner.

Click Ratio

The ratio between impressions and clicks. If you banner receives 100,000 impressions and 2,000 clicks, then your click ratio is 2%.

Impressions

The total number of times your banner is downloaded by users.

Hits

The total number of items downloaded from the server. This includes HTML files, graphics, etc. and is of no relevance to you as an advertiser.

Page Hits

The total number of HTML pages downloaded from the server. This is also of no relevance to you as an advertiser.

Portal Page

An intermediate page between the banner and the advertiser's Web site. Often resides on the advertiser's Web site but is created specifically to work with the banner and caters to Austin Axis reader.
